Sandy Mitchell Rugby 10s

We are pleased to announce the return of the Sandy Mitchell: Bristol and District Combination Rugby 10s Tournament, taking place on Saturday 15th August 2026.
Organised by Lockleaze Sports Centre and supported by the Bristol & District Rugby Football Combination, the tournament brings together local clubs for a day of competitive, combination rugby, while also recognising the contribution Sandy Mitchell BEM made to both the Centre and the wider rugby community.
The 2026 tournament will support Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity providing specialised nursing care and expert youth support for young people with cancer.
Last year’s inaugural event brought together Ashley Down OB RFC, Bishopston RFC, Bristol Saracens and Southmead RFC, with Bristol Saracens emerging victorious after a closely contested final. The tournament also raised awareness for the RFU Injured Players Foundation, with former player Liam O’Keeffe sharing his inspiring journey following a life-changing injury and his Mount Kilimanjaro challenge, raising over £25,000 – https://givestar.io/gs/uhuru-saints-climb-kili
The closing stages of the tournament were officiated by international referee and IPF Ambassador Luke Pearce, whose involvement added a special touch to the occasion, alongside support from the Bristol Referee Society.
With strong support from partners including the Bristol & District Combination Rugby, Gloucestershire RFU and Bristol Referee Society, the 2026 tournament promises another fantastic day of grassroots rugby, fundraising and celebration of Sandy Mitchell’s legacy.
